A Month of Thanksgiving - November 13, 2012

My prescription for a more satisfying meal – SLOW DOWN! Turn off the TV, turn on some music – something low and sensual - then open a bottle of wine. Talk, laugh, listen, and connect. It’s a secret recipe the Europeans have down to an art,
and one that most of us make excuses not to have time for anymore.

In a world of more and faster, we forget to indulge in one of life’s greatest pleasures: sharing food and wine, laughter and conversation with family and friends.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR wine because it encourages a return to a slower pace. Cheers!

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 12, 2012

I have always had this insatiable desire to walk – to lose myself in the woods. There are few things that keep me from walking. Bad body days aside I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so troublesome that I can’t walk away from it. After a day's walk everything has twice its usual value and I am at peace with my place in the world.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL that I can still walk!

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 11, 2012

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR all those who have so bravely served this country. America is founded on the principle of freedom, justice, and liberty for all. Our nation's soldiers serve every day to protect our country and its ideals. This Veteran's Day I pause to remember those who sacrifice their lives every moment to achieve peace and democracy.

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 10, 2012

I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all. It’s the little things in life that connect us to the bigger things in life. Little things like the smell of fresh brewed coffee in the morning.

That first cup of the day is always the best. Sipping it alone in the still muffled softness of a home not quite awake is delicious. Time to reflect. Time to plan. Time to just be quiet inside myself.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR my coffee time.

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 9, 2012

I love being with and married to Barry! It has been SO great to find that one special person I want to annoy for the rest of my life. We agreed when we first met that his job would be to make me laugh and my job would be to annoy him . . . so far that plan has worked out wonderfully!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR my best friend, my partner in crime and the person I know I can annoy for the rest of my life - BARRY!

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 8, 2012

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most - to laugh. Until tears run down my leg. If I couldn't laugh I would go insane. My soul dances when I laugh. My soul probably looks like Ginger Rogers dancing - too bad I don't!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR - laughter!

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 7, 2012

I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one's head pointed toward the sun, one's feet moving forward.

There are many dark moments when my faith is sorely tested, but I can not and will not give myself up to despair, to negativism. I don't know what might happen today, tomorrow or next week. But I still go forward. Because I trust. Because I have Faith.

Today I am thankful for my Faith.
